The sign was intentionally made to look weathered and aged by the production to fit the 1970s theme of downtown Jerusalem's (Salem's) Lot. Lawrence "Larry" Crockett - a crooked land dealer and the richest person in Jerusalem's (Salem's) Lot, sells Barlow and Straker the evil/haunted Marsten House, which is a main antagonist of the film. Production-aged.
